We sent our 2 year old German Shepherd, Fletcher, to the month long board and train to fine tune some of his training. Aaron and his team helped Fletcher with overcoming some fears and getting his Canine Good Citizen certification. We could not be happier with how he was treated like family. Their vast experience with the breed was exactly what we needed in a trainer. Aaron takes the time to explain and demonstrate everything he does until it is understood.
We were also able to add one of their beautiful puppies to our family in the process. They picked the perfect fit for us and ensured Fletcher would accept his new sister, Phoenix. Sarah and the family have obviously poured their hearts into these puppies.

Two thumbs up, five stars, 10 out of 10: definitely recommend!!!

We have a high drive, high energy adolescent Lab who could not control herself out in public, on walks, or when anyone came into our home. She tried, but her excitement would always win out. She failed two other training programs but then we found Kilo & Frei and gave the two week board and train a shot.
After four days, we received a video of our dog's progress and while I knew it was her, I was blown away and would have guessed it was a different dog. Now that she is home, she got a thumb's up on her walk today from my husband - that is the highest form of praise she could have gotten. She was calm and walked nicely without pulling plus she did not try to jump on every other dog, walker, or runner they came across. She is so well behaved overall and responds immediately to her commands, we are just in awe. I felt how much Aaron and Devin cared about this process and how zoned in they were on how best to connect with my pup. Plus it has been so easy for us to implement the ongoing training now that she is home. We could not be happier that we sent our girl to Kilo & Frei. Thank you so very much, Aaron and Devin, you have a gift and are a blessing to dog owners.

I am writing this review as I am still reeling from the exceptionally tramatic loss of a family pet as it was not even two days ago.

I had contacted Aaron to help me choose a dog to send for training as I had recently taken in 4 rescues to foster since they were going to be imminently put down (one had even been sedated already and they pulled him off the table). Needless to say, things were not harmonious between them and I needed help. Aaron spent time talking with me to unpack which would be best to send for training and I appreciated his time and input. When I decided which dog I would send I got back to him and he sent me a link for a deposit and an application link. I paid the $200.

The week of training his wife Sara messaged to ask that I fill out the application. I apologized and told her I had totally forgot as my longtime pet was in kidney failure. I had received a bouquet of flowers from the rescue I had taken the dogs for and it had lillies which are fatal to cats. This cat was all I had left of my mother as she had passed away, so this was an especially emotional loss. I quickly filled out the application and then the sign up sheet.

The day of training I messaged Sara as my cat was being put down and I had no way to get the dog to her. The week had been traumatic, with this day being by far the worst as the vet techs overloaded my guy with IV fluids, putting him in respiratory distress and congestive heart failure. They had not even told the doctor (this was overnight) or put him on oxygen (standard treatment). I had a backup to take the dog to training but she was in the hospital with an appendicitis, which I also explained. I'm essentially alone with a young child and I don't know anyone as I'm pretty new here. The following attachment is the complete exchange on that day (no explanation required, I'm sure).

She never said anything after my last message so I asked my husband (who is out of state for 6 months) to call and talk to her as I still wanted to send the dog. When he called me back he said, I don't ever want to talk to that woman again - she was abrasive and not at all compassionate. She requested we give her an additional $200 to hold a spot on November 1st then went on about there being a waiting list and requested that he make the decision on the spot.

After I watched my cat die I was in no place to make any decisions. She could have suggested to bring the dog the next day; to change the date and transfer the deposit:
Or she could have, in the least just said, "I'm so sorry".

I refuse to deal with someone who is so cold and uncaring. I'll lose the deposit and protect my dog because if this is how they treat their customers who are paying them and can speak, then how do they treat someone's animal that has no voice?

Gone back and forth about reviewing because I really don't like drama and I have already gone back & forth with them about this issue. Unfortunately my experience with kilo & frei was not good and people have a right to know. I got my dog back in extremely bad shape earlier this year. An $800 vet bill once the medications were filled for the various illnesses he picked up within the 30 days. They never sent any updates and when I picked him up it was clear why that was. He was very skinny, down 18 lbs from when I dropped him off in perfect condition. 2-3/9 body score, pneumonia so bad he wasn't able to bark for weeks. He had coccidia at a 3+ and was so hungry he had started eating rocks and foreign material. X rays showed a stomach & gi tract full of large rocks that were eaten at different times, no food present in his system aside from what i had fed him. Between the weight loss and the findings from my vet it can be assumed my dog wasn't fed on a regular basis at any time during his stay. probably days without eating even right before pick up. The dog was clearly starving which was also notated by my vet "very hungry on examination, eating as if malnourished" .. tip of his tail was also bitten off by what can be assumed another dog. Very unfortunate they treated a dog that way because it appeared to be a nice place. They will probably reply and deny this review but please be aware those are lies. I have proof of everything I'm saying. Beware they have a very tight contract they will have you sign and when questioned they will say "oh its just for liability" if they had good business practices they would've taken care of my vet bill that I incurred within hours of leaving their house. If I pick up the dog that day and have to go directly to the vet there is no question about who was responsible for the condition of the dog. If you have to go on a re-feed schedule for the dog, the dog was malnourished enough to require that. Aaron was very combative and outright lied several times in our messages, probably to attempt to make me look bad and to cover what he had done to my dog in case I tried to sue his business. As promised, my dog is healthy now.. his spirit isn't broken and he's filled back out to normal weight. His lungs are still not great but I'm expecting that to continue to improve.

I will say, at first I was extremely skeptical using them as I went through so many bad trainers and their price was a great price, but I took a chance. I am so glad I took the chance. This was the best place I've ever had train my puppy. She learned everything they said they would train on in the puppy bootcamp. They are great at responding and making sure they send proof of training. Being that I have a Malinois they definitely had their hands full. I look forward to sending my dog there for some advance obedience!

Aaron worked wonders with my pitbull Spartacus. I would and have recommended them to everyone I know. I could tell how wonderfully he was treated by the loud howl he let out as we pulled away. He was so sad to leave after his month of training. I'm forever grateful!

My sweet stubborn boy did the 30 day board and train and it was the best thing I’ve done for him. He is such a little gentleman now and I couldn’t be more happy! He is STILL doing amazing with his training even over a year later!

I also got my sweet sweet Scarlett Jane from the September 1, 2020 litter and I couldn’t be more in love. She’s so smart, absolutely STUNNING and so sweet. I absolutely can not say enough how much I love these two and all their puppies! They answer all my crazy dog mom questions too!!

THANK YOU Kilo and Frei Kennels, y’all are the real deal.

* Update years later:* these people are still the real deal. My sweet boy died a year and a half ago and Sarah did everything in her power to make sure I was taken care of emotionally and physically. I constantly am using them to board my sweet Scarlett girl and she comes back happy, healthy, & best of all worn out every time.

These people pour their entire being into other peoples pets and lives. My fiancée and I recently blended our families with his two kids and my dog. We had a few bumps as Scarlett had never lived with kids. They answered every single question I had, reassured me it was normal. Gave me solutions that changed our lives for the better.

I have absolutely no clue what the two most recent negative reviews are about, some people genuinely are just unhappy and unable to be pleased no matter what a business does. They will lie and twist any story to make themselves feel better and be the victim. Which is exactly what the deal is with those two sick and twisted people.

Aaron and Sarah (with an H) are absolutely phenomenal and they take such good care of our furry family members and even the non furry ones. Thank you for being the best dog trainers, dog sitters, dog question answer-ers and now best FRIENDS ever.

We did a 2 week board and train for our recently adopted dog Gunner and we are so happy with the whole experience. They communicate and respond so quickly and gave us little updates during his stay. Highly recommend their dog training services for anyone that is looking to train their 4 legged friends.
